Virtual collaboration has long been part of everyday life in many organisations, but for many it still feels like a compromise, like working with the handbrake on - with online meetings that run slowly, communication that breaks down between appointments and software that doesn't really establish itself because people have different levels of familiarity with digital technology and some simply have reservations about it.
It can be done differently if you understand how online meetings can be organised in such a way that they enable encounters and joint thinking, how synchronous and asynchronous collaboration can be meaningfully interlinked and how to create a shared understanding and acceptance of this.
In this SOCIUS online lab, you can reflect on your digital collaboration. We will give you a basic understanding of five areas:
-
Project planning - Keeping an eye on tasks and milestones together, even at a distance.
-
Communication & Collaboration - Communicate effectively, give feedback, make decisions without overfordern
-
Thinking & working together - using virtual whiteboards and document tools to develop and work on ideas together despite distance.
-
Knowledge management - Provide experience and process knowledge in such a way that everyone can look up what they need internally.
-
Relationship quality in virtual space - Building trust, creating a sense of connection and designing the space in such a way that people can really meet in the digital world.
We touch on the question of what role AI and data protection play in this.
