Socius Laboratory 11-2024

Overview

SOCIUS lab Leipzig: Experiential knowledge as a source for consulting, leadership and transformation

We think a lot about transformation. We think, plan and moderate it. We are constantly learning great models and putting them into practice. We hold spaces and navigate complex processes. And sometimes we sense what cannot yet be named.

In this lab we explore what movement and approaches from contemporary dance mean for consulting, leadership and organisational development. Not as a metaphor and not as a team-building exercise, but as a serious tool. Because what we practise physically changes how we think, decide and act in groups.

This lab is a mixture of dance class and seminar. We get moving, explore principles from contemporary dance and at the same time ask: Which strategies do I use, which are new? How do I deal with structure and openness? What dynamics arise in the group and where is my place in it? How do I experience resistance and letting go? What is the impulse and where does it lead me?

It is the third lab in the Halle/Leipzig area and invites you to take part in a growing network of people who want to think and shape transformation differently. With Wera Stein, organisational development and dancer. Hosted by Lysan Escher, SOCIUS organisational consulting.

For whom?

For whom?

This lab is aimed at people from two fields that we consciously want to bring together. On the one hand, there are counsellors, leaders, educators and anyone who works with change processes and feels that the head needs the body. On the other side are dance professionals who want to learn more about leadership, collaboration and organisational culture.

You don't have to be a dancer or an organisational developer. You simply need curiosity and a willingness to move and explore in the field of transformation. We move mindfully and at our own pace. The workshop takes place without touch, all levels and all bodies are welcome. Each person decides for themselves how much they want to contribute.

I grew up in Cottbus and have lived in Leipzig for over 19 years. I studied media informatics and am trained in contemporary dance, specialising in pedagogy and choreography.

From 2014 to 2025, I worked as an information architect and organisational developer in the Wigwam eG, a communications agency for social and ecological goals. In 2016, I was involved in the conversion of a GmbH into a cooperative and was Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board and a member of the Executive Board from 2021 to 2024.

My experience with cooperative models, my work in organisational development and web strategy as well as my involvement with dance and movement together form the basis of my current consultancy work.

The driving force behind my work is to provide impetus for organisations to develop into places where people enjoy working, can develop personally and contribute to the success of the common purpose. I am inspired by the perspective of living learning and self-organised processes - according to which all living things, from the smallest cell to the largest organisation, are always learning and developing coherently on their own.

I live in the beautiful city of Halle, where I also studied educational science/adult education. Building on this, I completed training in conflict management, organisational development and systemic consulting. With this foundation, I have been working with and in teams in the non-profit sector for many years - as a voluntary board member, full-time manager and freelance consultant.
